The Albanian Canadian Development Alternative (ACDA) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to fostering cooperation and cultural exchange between Albania and Canada. With a vision to support the Albanian community in Canada and promote Albanian culture, ACDA plays a significant role in organizing events, projects, and initiatives that celebrate Albanian heritage and facilitate community integration.

Mission

ACDA’s mission is to act as a bridge between Albanian immigrants and Canadian society while preserving and promoting Albanian culture, literature, and professional development. ACDA strives to:

• Organize cultural events showcasing Albanian literature, music, and arts.

• Support the professional integration of Albanian immigrants in Canada.

• Facilitate academic and intellectual exchanges between Albania and Canada.

• Promote cross-cultural understanding and dialogue.

Key Initiatives

• Albanian Book Festival: ACDA is the leading organizer the largest Albanian literary event in Canada, set for November 30 - December 1, 2024. This festival is the culmination of ACDA’s efforts to promote Albanian literature in Canada.

• Professional Integration Survey: ACDA is conducting a survey to map the professional landscape of Albanian immigrants in Canada, gathering insights on integration, challenges, and achievements.

• Albanica Digital Platform: This platform aims to recognize and distribute the work of Albanian researchers and academics across Canada.

• Cultural Events: ACDA frequently hosts events featuring Albanian authors, musicians, and artists, fostering cultural exchange and community engagement.

• Science and Archive Projects: ACDA also engages in projects focused on scientific research and the preservation of cultural archives, supporting the advancement and documentation of Albanian heritage.

Community Collaboration

ACDA believes in the power of collaboration, working closely with other organizations, including the Albanian Canadian Lawyers Association and the Albanian Canadian Excellence Society, to amplify its impact within the Albanian-Canadian community.
