Shani Pnishi

Poet

Shani Pnishi (born 1977), a graduate in Political Science from McMaster University, is a co-founder of the Albanian Association of Hamilton and served as its first chairman from 2010 to 2015. Since that year, he has co-directed the project of the Albanian House in Hamilton, which was inaugurated in 2019. From 2013 to 2015, he was the chief editor of the newspaper for Albanians in Canada, "Flas Shqip," and since 2020, he has been a correspondent from Canada for the newspaper "Diaspora Shqiptare" in Tirana, reflecting on events and personalities of our diaspora here in Canada. Since May of last year, he has been the chief editor of the news portal for Albanians in Canada, "Albanian News." He is also the author of two poetry books, "99" and “Këtu dhe Atje” (Here and There). In 2019, during the proceedings of the Diaspora Summit, the Albanian government awarded him the "Nation's Ambassador" prize.
