Dita Books
The Book Distribution and Trade Agency "Dita" (also known as A.Sh.T.L Dita or Dita Books) is one of the oldest book distribution agencies in Albania, established in 2006. The agency's primary goal has been to distribute books throughout Albania and Kosovo.
Dita Books collaborates with over 70 publishers from Albania and Kosovo, ensuring that each publication in the Albanian language is authorized for distribution and sale not only in the Republic of Albania and Kosovo but also to the diaspora. The majority of its customers include booksellers and libraries, and this collaboration has been instrumental in increasing access to books for many individuals.
The trade catalogue of Dita Books features more than 30 titles, predominantly from Albanian authors such as Fan Noli, Ndre Mjeda, and Çajupi, alongside international classics by Jules Verne, Victor Hugo, James Pettifer, Omar Khayyam, Aristophanes, and others, available in bookshops and sales points within Albanian-speaking territories.
Since April 2024, under new management, Dita Books has been focusing on expanding its trade publishing division, aiming to become a significant player in this sector. The main focus of the company is now on children and young adult literature, striving to introduce fresh international voices to the Albanian market and to offer quality editions that are both visually distinctive and uphold high editorial standards.
In response to market demands and to address the needs of a globalizing population, Dita Books has recently started implementing a bilingual system for its publications, particularly for children's books, offering them in both English and Albanian. This approach aims to preserve the Albanian language among the diaspora and within Albania amidst increasing migration.
Owning the distribution agency positions Dita Books for rapid growth as a publishing house, setting it on course to become one of the most prominent publishers in Albania.
Their motto encapsulates their approach:
Passion and dedication, professionalism and imagination will bring readers together.
